Lang, Expressionismus 38. – Erste Ausgabe. – Exemplar der Ausgabe C mit allen 100 Tafeln, auf Bütten und in Büttenkartonbroschur. – „Ecce Homo“ ist das erste große Sammelwerk des Künstlers, fertiggestellt wohl Ende 1922 und um den Jahreswechsel ausgeliefert. 1923 wurden Grosz und die Verleger Gumpert und Herzfelde vom Generalstaatsanwalt beim Berliner Landgericht angeklagt, „unzüchtige Abbildungen und Darstellungen feilgehalten … zu haben“, 23 Blätter wurden konfisziert. – Umschlag etwas gebräunt und am Vorderdeckel oben mit leichter Knickspur, sehr gutes und sauberes Exemplar des bedeutenden Werks. – First edition. – Copy of edition C with all 100 plates, on laid paper and in laid cardboard brochure. – “Ecce Homo” is the artist’s first major collective work, probably completed at the end of 1922 and delivered around the turn of the year. In 1923, Grosz and the publishers Gumpert and Herzfelde were accused by the Attorney General at the Berlin District Court of having “traded in lewd images and depictions”, and 23 sheets were confiscated. – Cover somewhat browned and with a slight crease at the top of the front cover, a very good and clean copy of this important work.
