Springbok in the high grade condition! Despite of its large size formally this coin is still legal tender. This reverse was in use till 1989 and two dies of it were discovered. There are a lot of differences between the dies, hundreds of coins were passed to mark a feature, which is easy for attribution.

Die A - narrow ears next to each other.
Die B - wide ears, one behind the other.

Due to the discovery this coin is attributed as Rev. die B. Many and many coins dated 1983 were passed and all of them occurred to be of Rev. die A. This coin was the very first of new Rev. die B ever seen. Thus now with the help of this coin it was confirmed that there were 2 types in 1983.
