A passant lion holding a sword in its paw and with sun in background under the last Shah of the country Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (1941-1979). Interesting commemorative coin dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Pahlavi Rule. Date represents time passed since beginning of Empire period of Iran, that is 2535 years since coronation of the first Emperor Cyrus the Great (559–530 BCE). The restoration of counting time by years since Cyrus was not too long: the new demands ended it in 2537 and soon a revolutionary regime started year counting in a monotheistic propaganda way. Despite of these changes the essence of the calendar style of year counting was not touched, making it the most accurate solar calendar humans ever developed.
