Interesting and uncommon type in nice condition of early coinage in Canada during the process of unification of Canadian provinces which happened during 1841-1867. Obv. bears legend in French with denomination 2 sou in words. On Rev. the coin gives denomination one penny and depicts allegory of commerce with cornucopia and a ship in the sea. On the coast under the ship the beaver right and the beehive to the left of the shield. Later the beaver appeared on 5 cents. The double denomination reflects the two communities of the province French and British.
